Instant OGo Release 2 features CentOS and Samba

Instant OGo Upgrade: May 2007

May 10, 2007 Skyrix is offering a new major upgrade of its Instant OGo ASE Business Server. The new software release features an easy-to-use integrated Samba server that sets up a well integrated central document store. The Groupware Linux product version is based on CentOS 5 with current Linux kernel 2.6. For contracted customers with valid maintenance subscription the application server is still available with Fedora Core 3 support. The Debian edition supports Etch now.

The upgrade is free of charge for customers which have a valid maintenance subscription. The automated update process covers the application server components only. An upgrade of the operating system requires new installation from scratch and user data migration. A step-by-step instruction can be downloaded from the Skyrix Customer Portal. In addition Skyrix offers convenient migration support for any Linux transition.

  • New Productivity Features
    • Samba Server: SMB File-Sharing service was added; the Samba Server provides a 'public' share accessible for all intranet users as well as private shares for each user. (SX-Enh #2105)
  • Client Support Improvements
    • Mozilla Sunbird: Several enhancements and fixes ensure a highly improved compatibility with Sunbirds new CalDAV support. This allows users to change group calendars using Mozilla's native calendar client. The benefit in using CalDAV for shared calendars is the a higher reliability. With CalDAV, the common data loss issues when using iCal over http are a thing of the past.
  • Administrative Usability
    • Update Process: When searching for updates, all packages found are pre-checked now (SX-Enh #2162).
    • Start Scripts: The session server start script has been improved to configure instance count (SX-Enh #2168). The start script for the Outlook support daemon was renamed from sx-zidestore to sx-mapid.
    • Smart Kaspersky Support: In addition to the built-in ClamAV you may use Kaspersky Antivirus now simply by configuring a license key.
  • Improved integration between email server and groupware
    • (SX-Enh #2107) Notification message is raised now when the user is reaching its email quota limit.
    • (SX-Enh #2148) The administration interface allows now to configure the email message size limit.
    • (SX-Enh #2150) Smart Feature: Users can configure now to keep mails when automatically forwarding using Sieve filter - aka OGo-Enh #594
    • (SX-Enh #2155) Cyrus IMAP log entries are shown in Admin-UI now.
    • (SX-Enh #2158) Administrator can configure a default signature / disclaimer to append on each outgoing e-mail. Configuration can be made global or for particular users and groups.
  • XML-RPC Improvements
    • Notification time is now available via XML-RPC (OGo-Enh #1792)
  • Fixed Bugs
    • (OGo bug #530) fixed a bug that made workday cycle appointment entries at the weekend
    • (OGo bug #1635) links from a project note to an appointment show up now
    • (OGo bug #1661) a generic object link to a company now displays the object name, not OGo id
    • (OGo bug #1753) fixed a bug that stripped underscore from body of mail in mail viewer
    • (OGo bug #1772) fixed a bug that prevented URL's to load in external window from person/company viewer
    • (OGo bug #1829) fixed a bug that misplaced recurring events using 'every last', 'monthly' options
    • (OGo bug #1834) fixed a bug that prevented to reply to mails when userpart contains underscore
    • (SX bug #2156) fixed a bug that caused Instant OGo to crash when rolloutd is down
    • (SX bug #2163) update process now accepts ip address for proxy declaration
    • (SX bug #2165) fixed a bug in logrotate configuration
  • System Software Upgrades and Security Fixes
    • Operating System: bumped up to CentOS 5 (Kernel 2.6.18 plus approx. 500 patches)
    • Security: updates installed for amavisd-new (2.5), clamav (0.90), spamassassin (3.1.7)
